A QR code (2D) is a grid of squares that can hold much more data directly, such as a full URL, and is typically scanned with a phone camera rather than a dedicated scanner.
Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products sold in stores, Code 128 for general-purpose internal tracking and logistics, Code 39 for industrial or legacy scanner compatibility, and ITF-14 for shipping cartons. If you are unsure, Code 128 is the safest general-purpose choice.
No. For EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E and ITF-14, the check digit is calculated automatically if you leave it out, or verified automatically if you include it. Code 128 and Code 39 do not require a check digit.
