This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies minzo.link ("we," "us," "our") uses on our website and dashboard (the "Service"), why we use them, and how you can control them. This Policy should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow a site to recognize your browser, remember information about your visit (such as your login state or preferences), and, in some cases, track your activity across visits or sites. We also use similar technologies (such as localStorage) for the same purposes; references to "cookies" in this Policy cover both.
2. How We Use Cookies
We use cookies to: keep you logged in, protect your account and the Service from fraud and abuse, remember your display preferences (such as light/dark theme and language), measure and understand how the Service is used, prevent duplicate or fraudulent interactions with links and surveys, and, where applicable, attribute signups to the referral or affiliate source that sent you to us.
3. Cookie Consent
On your first visit, we show a cookie consent banner where you can accept all cookies or choose which categories to allow. Your choice is itself remembered in a cookie (cc_cookie, kept for up to 365 days) so we don't ask you again unnecessarily. Cookies that are not strictly necessary (such as our analytics cookies) are only loaded after you give consent.
You can review or change your preferences at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in our website footer, or by clearing your cookies in your browser, which will cause the banner to reappear on your next visit.
4. Cookies We Use
| Cookie | Category | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cc_cookie | Strictly Necessary | Stores your cookie consent choices, so we remember them and don't ask again. | 365 days |
PHPSESSID | Strictly Necessary | Core session cookie. Keeps you logged in during your visit, secures forms against cross-site request forgery, and carries short-lived status messages. | Until you close your browser |
logged_in | Strictly Necessary | Set only if you select "Remember Me" at login. Lets you stay signed in without re-entering your password on your next visit. | Up to 30 days |
language | Strictly Necessary | Remembers your selected display language so pages render correctly. | 1 day |
short_{link ID} | Strictly Necessary | Anti-flood protection on individual short links, preventing duplicate/fraudulent click counting from the same visitor in a short window. | Configurable (a few minutes, set by the Service) |
svv_{survey ID} | Strictly Necessary | Anti-flood protection on survey pages, preventing duplicate view counting from the same visitor. | 30 minutes |
survey_done_{survey ID} | Functional | Remembers that you already completed a specific survey, to prevent duplicate submissions. | Up to 5 years |
t26theme | Functional | Remembers your light/dark display theme preference. | Up to 1 year |
darkmode | Functional | Legacy equivalent of the above, used on older theme versions where still applicable. | Session / until changed |
userhistory | Functional | Lets guests (not logged in) see a short history of links they recently created or visited on this device. | Up to 1 year |
urid | Advertising / Attribution | Records which affiliate or referral link brought you to the Service, so the correct affiliate can be credited if you sign up. | Up to 90 days |
acqsrc | Advertising / Attribution | Records the acquisition source of your visit (e.g. which campaign or channel referred you), for signup attribution reporting. | Up to 90 days |
_ga, _gid and related Google Analytics cookies | Analytics | Set by Google Analytics (only after you consent to the "Analytics" category) to measure aggregate usage of the Service. Controlled by Google, not by us. | Per Google's own retention settings (typically up to 13 months for _ga, 24 hours for _gid) |
Strictly Necessary cookies cannot be disabled through our consent tool, because the Service cannot function correctly without them (for example, you could not stay logged in, and pages could not verify form submissions safely). You can still block them at the browser level, but parts of the Service will likely break.
5. Third-Party Cookies
Google Analytics. If enabled and if you consent to the "Analytics" category, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and usage patterns. Google may set its own cookies as described above, governed by Google's own privacy policy.
Social login. If you choose to log in or register using Google, Facebook, or Twitter/X, those providers may set their own cookies during the authentication process, independent of us, governed by their own respective policies.
Payment processors. If you make a payment or donation, the relevant payment processor (Stripe, PayPal, Mollie, Paddle, or PayStack) may set its own cookies during checkout to process your transaction securely and prevent fraud.
6. Cookies on Links, QR Codes, and Bio Pages Created by Our Users (Important)
The cookie banner and preference categories described in this Policy govern our own website and dashboard. They do not control what happens after you click a short link, scan a QR code, or land on a bio page, overlay, or splash page created by one of our users.
Our platform lets Link Creators attach third-party retargeting/analytics pixels (such as Google Ads, Meta/Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Pinterest, Snapchat, Reddit, or similar) to their own links. If such a pixel is attached, the destination page (or the redirect itself) may set cookies belonging to that third-party provider, independent of minzo.link and outside our control. Please refer to our Privacy Policy, Section 5, and to the relevant Link Creator or third-party provider's own policy for information about that specific tracking.
7. How to Control Cookies via Your Browser
In addition to our own consent tool, most browsers let you view, delete, and block cookies through their Settings or Privacy menu, and let you set exceptions per website. Note that blocking or deleting Strictly Necessary cookies will likely prevent you from logging in or using core features of the Service correctly.
8. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal or operational reasons. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date above, and, where appropriate, by prompting you to review your consent choices again.
